Faculty in the Media: On Fascist Feminisms, and Israel’s Plans to Control Gaza City

In an interview with Haymarket Books, Sophie Lewis emphasizes the need to grapple with fascist strains of feminism. Such strains, whether corporate, neoliberal, carceral, or otherwise, are not merely misguided worldviews in need of minor tweaks, but rather internally coherent ideologies which left-feminists must actively oppose.  Spotlighting the anti-fascist alternatives gathering momentum today, Lewis notes that—in spite of the rising tide of such enemy movements—“feminism is in a golden age, not just theoretically, but practically.”

Then, Abdaljawad Omar joined Millennials Are Killing Capitalism on YouTube to discuss Israel’s plans to expand the occupation and control of Gaza City, following his recent article on the subject in Mondoweiss. While Israel’s military can already enter any area of the Gaza Strip unimpeded, as Abdalajwad observes, the new plans offer “more time to do more destruction, to keep the genocide going, to [induce] the collapse [of Palestinian society], morally, socially, and economically.”
