Occasional Evenings: My Mis-Education in 3 Graphics – a Film Screening and Discussion

BISR Central
68 Jay Street, #308
Brooklyn, NY 11201

Join us Friday, March 18th, at BISR Central, as we kick off the 2022 Occasional Evenings series with a screening and discussion of My Mis-Education in 3 Graphics, filmmaker Mary Filippo’s darkly humorous journey through the mind-boggling constructs of mainstream economics. Splicing footage from economics course lectures with interviews with mainstream economists from the World Bank to Harvard, Filippo explores the enormous gap between economic theory, as elaborated in textbooks, and economic reality. In ironic homage to the standard textbook, the film presents—and deconstructs—the three central models of orthodox economics: the market, firms, and macroeconomics, in order to ask: What have we (and these orthodox economists) learned from the past 40 years of “market rule”?

After the screening, Filippo will sit down with BISR faculty Lygia Sabbag Fares for a discussion and Q&A.

The event is free to attend, with a suggested $8 donation. Drinks, snacks, and seltzer will be served. Please RSVP below.
