Yanyi’s “The Year of Blue Water”: a Reading, Conversation, and Celebration

Community Bookstore
143 7th Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11215

Join us Tuesday, April 30th, at Community Bookstore, as we celebrate the publication of Yanyi’s The Year of Blue Water (Yale University Press, 2019), winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize. Weaving “experiences of immigration as a Chinese American, of racism, of mental wellness, and of gender from a queer and trans perspective,” Yanyi’s “arresting and straightforward poems” invite the reader “to consider how to speak with multiple identities through trauma, transition, and ordinary life.” Yanyi will read selections from his work, and sit down with BISR faculty Rebecca Ariel Porte for a conversation about his poetry, process, subject matters, and influences.

Co-sponsored by Yale University Press, the event is free. Please RSVP below.
