World Historical Whoopsies! A Members Cocktail Party

The course of world history, as we know, proceeds not by orderly nor probable means. And yet, there have been certain historical events that quite exceed our ordinary sense of contingency. As when an East German communist party spokesperson announced, erroneously, on live TV the end of East-West travel restrictions, “effective immediately,” accelerating the demise of both party and state. How do occasions akin to these upset our thinking of system and contingency? Please join us Tuesday, September 9th, at 7pm at BISR Central for an evening of cocktails and harrowing tales of World Historical Whoopsies from BISR faculty Hannah Leffingwell, Jude Webre, Andy Battle, and BISR member and culinary artist Sara Clugage.
