Eli Zadeh

Eli S. Zadeh is a historian of art and visual culture, focused on the transnational representations of the United States in the twentieth century. The underlying questions in his scholarship are mostly concerned with the formation of visual culture within the dynamics of power in modern liberal democracies. He also examines how free will and human agency, as expressed through body and sexuality, are formed by sociocultural institutions and represented in art. He received his Ph.D. in Art History and Criticism from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2024. He has taught courses on the history of modern art in the United States, history of photography, and avant-garde film at various institutions in the United States and abroad, including the City University of New York, Baruch College, the State University of New York, and the Cooper Union.
