Zachary Tavlin holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Washington. In addition to serving as Associate Faculty at the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research, he teaches at the University of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is also Associate Editor at Wallace Stevens Journal. Zachary writes about poetry, the history of literary forms, critical theory and philosophy, and cinema and visual culture. His first book, Glancing Visions: Surface and Depth in Nineteenth-Century American Literature, was published by the University of Alabama Press in 2023. He has books forthcoming or in progress on serial poetics and art criticism, narratological film theory, and the poetry of Emily Dickinson.
