Days of Learning
Our “Day-of-Learning” program offers participants the opportunity to spend a full day immersed in a single text (such as Hannah Arendt’s Eichmann in Jerusalem), theoretical question (e.g. What is historical materialism?) or historic event. Through a combination of lectures, on-site reading, breakout sessions and panel discussions, participants are invited to explore multiple facets of the day’s topic in a collaborative environment. Days of learning typically involve into two lectures by a Brooklyn Institute faculty member, guided group discussions, and a final roundtable panel with plenty of time for Q&A.
Days-of-Learning require no advance preparation, and BISR provides participants with all reading materials in addition to coffee, snacks, and lunch to fuel your curiosity. A wine and cheese reception wraps up the day’s work.
