BISR Live: Poetry, Criticism, and the Calamity Form
What happens when the artwork and capital meet? In the latest edition of BISR Live, Anahid Nersessian, author of the newly published The Calamity Form: On Poetry and Social Life, will join BISR faculty Rebecca Ariel Porte for a discussion of Romantic poetry as it attempted to make sense of the “calamity form” altering irrevocably the relation of human to human and human to earth—i.e., the Industrial Revolution. How—and why—do we poeticize trauma? What sort of knowledge does poetry produce? What does it mean for poetry to be critical?
BISR Live: The Calamity Form will take place October 25th at 7pm EST. To watch (and offer questions and comments in the comment section), please tune in to the BISR Facebook page. Please RSVP below to receive a reminder email and any updates.
