Occasional Evenings: Amadeus
68 Jay Street, #308
Brooklyn, NY 11201
Join us Monday, October 7th, from 7-10pm, for the first of BISR’s “Occasional Evenings”—a screening of Amadeus (1984), the Academy Award-winning biopicture that relates the meteoric life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as narrated by his friend, rival, and possible murderer, Antonio Salieri. Before the film, BISR faculty Nathan Shields (whose course Mozart: Music, Enlightenment, and the Sublime starts Monday, October 21st), Ajay Singh Chaudhary, and Rebecca Ariel Porte will discuss the life and work of Mozart; the biopic (why is Amadeus so good, and most other biopics so terrible?); (un)reliable narration; and the questionable concept of “Genius.” Beer, seltzer, and snacks will be served. Attendance is free (with $8 suggested donation). Please RSVP below.
