Occasional Evenings: Metropolis

BISR Central
68 Jay Street, #308
Brooklyn, NY 11201

Join us Friday, May 6th, for a screening and discussion of Fritz Lang’s groundbreaking science fiction drama Metropolis. Featuring the preposterous interiors, off-kilter camera angles, and audaciously artificial effects of classic expressionist film, Metropolis also created a cast of enduring sci-fi tropes: the mad scientist, the heartless industrialist, humanoid robots, and the futuristic cityscape. Before the film, BISR Faculty Rebecca Ariel Porte will discuss the film’s cinematic innovations, its place in the history of silent film, and its evolving reception. Beer, wine, seltzer, and snacks will be served. Attendance is free (with $8 suggested donation). Please RSVP below.
