Occasional Evenings: Wendy Eisenberg

BISR Central
68 Jay Street, #308
Brooklyn, NY 11201

Simultaneity is a hallmark of guitarist Wendy Eisenberg‘s musical art. The interplay of genre, the strange, generative amalgamation of improvisation and structure, dissonance and sublime melody: it’s what makes Eisenberg one of the most interesting songwriters and guitarists currently working. And it all seems to adduce to a single musical end: the revelation of the potency and ferocity of the electrified instrument. Eisenberg always shreds—even when they don’t.

Join us Friday, June 16th, for the latest in our series of Occasional Evenings: Wendy Eisenberg, in concert. Performing solo (they also play in a number of kickass bands), Eisenberg will play songs from their extensive and varied catalogue. And after the set, they’ll sit down with BISR faculty (and working musician) Jude Webre to discuss their work, processes, techniques, and influences (musical, literary, and philosophical). What’s contained in the urge to eclecticism? How do genres cross and relate? Why is the guitar Eisenberg’s chosen vehicle for sound?

Beer, wine, seltzer, and snacks will be served. Attendance is free (with $10 suggested donation). Doors open at 6:45; the event begins at 7pm. The event will stream live to the BISR Facebook page. Please RSVP below.
