Jeffrey Escoffier Memorial Library — a Space for BISR Members
The Jeffrey Escoffier Memorial Library, housed at BISR Central, holds over 3,000 volumes, comprised in part of course books, faculty publications, publisher gifts, and donations. The vast majority of the collection was generously bequeathed by our beloved late colleague, in whose honor the library is named, and uniquely reflects Jeffrey’s passions—from the history of sex and sexuality to the sociology of public health, from contemporary literature to critical theory, including rare books on film, pornography, dance, photography, and urban American life.
BISR members at every level, from Iron to Philosopher, are warmly invited to browse the library and while away their afternoon hours at desks specially reserved for the purpose. Because the collection contains rare and collectible editions, use of the books is on-site only. Reading hours are 3:00-6:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, by appointment only and subject to occasional closures. To book a desk, please contact info@thebrooklyninstitute.com at least one business day prior to your expected visit.
